The food eaten in Oxfordshire makes up 43% of the ecological footprint in the region (Moore, 2019). And, according to World Meat-Free Week, a company of 500 people choosing veggie for just one meal saves:
- The global warming potential equivalent of driving a car 5,059 kilometres
- The equivalent of 12 years of water use for 1 person
- The daily recommended calories of 18 men
Good Food Oxford are on a mission to encourage residents to choose more sustainable options for their diets, inclduing eating more vegetables as well as less and better meat and other animal products.
Join Good Food Oxford on 14 of June by serving a veggie lunch at your workplace, pledging for your whole organisation to eat veggie at home or simply support their social media campaign #SwitchUpYourLunch. There are lots of useful free resources on their website to help with your pledges.
Switch Up Your Lunch is a joint campaign by Oxfordshire Greentech, and Good Food Oxford and supported by Veg Cities, Low Carbon Hub, Women in Sustainability, Oxfordshire County Council and other partners.
