The Veg Cities site will close permanently on 1 January 2025.

Veg Cities is changing but our commitment to healthy food and more veg is not. We started Good Food Local, a new initiative to help local authorities prioritise good food and commit to action on a breadth of food issues including healthy food environments. Join the movement

Support healthier food businesses

Councils

Support businesses through access to land, training, rate relief or other incentives.

There are a range of instruments which local authorities can use to support more vegetables in shops, cafes and restaurants and re-establish vital infrastructure such as markets, Grade 1 and 2 land, local processing, food hubs and distribution networks. Food partnerships can also have a key role in supporting healthier food businesses and start-ups with training and marketing support.

Please join Veg Cities to access all the downloads for this action.

Veg Cities is working with councils across the UK to help people grow, cook, sell, serve and save more vegetables.
