The Veg Cities site will close permanently on 1 January 2025.

Veg Cities is changing but our commitment to healthy food and more veg is not. We started Good Food Local, a new initiative to help local authorities prioritise good food and commit to action on a breadth of food issues including healthy food environments. Join the movement

Grow or cook extra vegetables to donate

Community groups

Grow or cook extra vegetables to donate to projects and to those most in need.

Covid may have boosted home cooking and more localized food purchasing but for a growing number of people it is causing additional barriers in the access to vegetables and healthy food.

Many organisations, from allotments to community or Council run projects and restaurants are stepping in to ensure those most in need have access to fresh vegetables.

Are you growing an extra row at your allotment or community garden to donate? Are you cooking with fresh vegetables and ensuring meals for those in need contain at least two portions of vegetables? Are you redirecting surplus vegetables to those most in need? We would like to hear from you.

Please join Veg Cities to access all the downloads for this action.

Veg Cities is working with community groups across the UK to help people grow, cook, sell, serve and save more vegetables.
